Faced all sorts of racism when trying to buy houses whether it being from the bank, to the realtors, to finding jobs in the area
Difficulty made it unlikely to stay around there
City not seeing it as a problem
The city has odd priorities, but peoples quality of like is not one of them
Majority white city council
City is very progressive
Doesn't have any way to
Trouble keeping people in the city
Portland already struggles to keep any citizens from leaving the city
Move to suburbs due to cheaper costs and safer
Currently the city is not the most attractive it has been
Still cleaning up from the riots
Not the best schools for children
Poor planning of the city
Portland segregated housing heavily
African American houses were built in a heavy flood plane
The flood plane flooded heavily destroying all the houses and making it inhospitable
Currently there is no segregation, however the formerly segregated areas are not as nice as where other people stayed
