Plot Points
Odysseus is trapped on an island because Polyphemus and Poseidon do not want him to return. He never returned after fighting in Troy.

Athena tells Prince Telemachus to take a crew of 20 men and find his father by boat and he happily agrees

Telemachus announces his two main problems. First, that he has lost his father, and second, that suitors are courting his mother against her will.
Antonius announces that Telemachus's mother is to blame because she leads the suitors on and is very cunning, and the suitors refuse to leave until Penelope goes to her father and gets married. Odysseus refuses to listen to suitors.
Warrior Halitherses tells prophecy of Odysseus, and no one listens. Instead they say they do not care and that they will not stop courting Penelope.
Telemachus decides to go looking for news of his father and resolves that if he finds that he is dead, then he will give his mother to another husband.
Telemachus talks with Athena and decides to continue with his plan because she builds up his confidence.
The ship landed on Pyos, where people were sacrificing bulls for Poseidon. There Athena and Telemachus attended the banquet.
Telemachus begs Nestor to tell him the truth and details about his fathers death. Nestor tells Telemachus that he and his father went separate ways durning the Trojan war, and says that he does nt know what happened to his father. Nestor also tells a story about Agamemnon's death.

Telemachus and Athena arrive at King Menelaus's palace. He tells them about how is is sorry for Odysseus and everyone else who dies dies in Troy.
Menelaus tell Telemachus the story of how he returned and that Odysseus is still alive, but trapped by Calypso. He offers the horses to Telemachus but when he refuses he gifts Telemachus a mixing-bowl.

The gods send Hermes to tell Calypso to let Odysseus free. Hermes arrived at Calypso's cave and delivers the message. odysseus then created the raft for himself to leave on.
Odysseus is sailing hope and then runs into a storm set off by Poseidon. Odysseus meet Leucothea who helps him by giving him a scarf of immortality to help him reach the land.
Odysseus reached land, with the help of the gods and fell asleep under an olive bush.
Odysseus boards boat and fell asleep. One of the gods then brought him home to Ithaca. Poseidon plans to crash ship into a rock to gain back respect and then plans to changes Odysseus's appaerence. Odysseus is shocked. They then hide the gifts that Odysseus has and plan to kill the suitors. Athena goes to bring home Telemachus.
Eumaes invites Odysseus, still disguised, for a meal. Odysseus reveals himself to Telemachus.
Odysseus receives permission to stay at the palace, but is treated badly by the suitors. The nurse realizes that the beggar is really Odysseus, and Penelope decides to marry whichever suitor can shoot and arrow through twelve rows of axes.

None of the suitors can preform the task. Telemachus carry out the plan by removing the weapons. Odysseus preforms the task the other men cannot.
