- - - - In this case, the ELL or English language learners will be exposed those situations and it is mandatory for them to be prepared with the tools necessary to communicate successfully.
        
        Moving on, real life situations are important in the knowledge construction process because the students will find themselves in different scenarios where they must use the target language to be able to communicate. This is mentioned in the English Syllabus by MEP, (2016) “the students are social agents that use the target language to perform specific actions in real life contexts meaningfully.” (p.28). Based on this statement the researchers considered that part of a successful knowledge construction process and the teaching of speaking, real life situations is essential to pay close attention. IN addition,MEP (2016) says that “enabling and communicative activities are task-based and real-life.” (p.28). These tasks can be performed through the use of some non-technological applications that will later be exposed by the researchers.
        
        The next argument proposes another importance of real life scenarios and it is based on the assumption of the Action Oriented Approach stated by MEP, (2016) where it explains that “language performances, in oral or written form, respond to language functions and are carried out in specific scenarios.” (p.28). According to the previously mentioned, when implementing the use of non-educational apps during the knowledge construction process, activities must also respond to language functions and carried out in specific scenarios. Plus, the teacher should take into consideration the importance of providing the students with real life tasks so they can practice when teaching speaking. As mentioned by
        
        Harmer (2007), speaking activities provide rehearsal opportunities - chances
        to practice real-life speaking in the safety of the classroom. Also, speaking tasks in
        which students try to use some or all the languages they know provide feedback for
        both teacher and students. Everyone can see how well they are doing on both aspects
        of how successful they are and what language problems they are experiencing. Finally,
        the more students have opportunities to activate the various elements of language they have stored in their brains, the more automatic their use of these elements become. As
        a result, students gradually become autonomous language users (p.123)
        
        As mentioned previously, most of the activities and tasks used in the action oriented approach should be based on real-life speaking situations. Learners will have more opportunities to practice their speaking skills
        
        Another reason for the importance of real life situations in the knowledge construction process is that this action research wants to help learners to use non-educational apps so they can achieve specific tasks that will increment their knowledge and development of linguistic skills. This can be accomplished by means of games, acitivities, ans tasks in the action oriented approach where learners can interact with other classmates, friends, or people in general in real life situations.

- - - - Based on the previous definition, it can be said that social interaction plays an essential role in the knowledge construction process because the main objective here is to prepare the English language learners to develop a communicative comptence enough to actively interact with others in different social settings.
        
        Furthermore, people require these social interaction skills so they establish and improve their own personality. To support this argument Robles (2012) states that “People social skills are
        the interpersonal attributes that characterize a person’s relationships with others” (p.457). As a result, it can be said that those social skills help people to have character and be able to establish a relationship with other people of society.
        
        Another reason of the important of social interaction in the knowledge construction process is that there is no secret that English is a powerful tool that will help many Costa Rican students to have a better profesional life. That is another reason why the researchers of this proposal decided to take into account speaking skills as a variable. This is suppported by
        
        MEP’s syllabus (2016) where it is explained that “English has become a lingua franca, the language of international communication. Millions of people all over the world with the most diverse languages and cultural backgrounds are using English to interact in person and digitally” (p.6).
        
        Based on that assumption, it can be said that learners should be ready to use language in different social settings. Especially in Costa Rica where many tourists visit the country everyyear and so Costa Ricans should be ready to interact in settings such as asking for directions, going to a restaurant, getting a job, greeting people, and performing other daily social tasks
        
        In addition, teachers should be aware that social interaction is important because it requires a lot of practice and commitment from the learners. As explained by Meningkatkan (2012)

- - - - That reflects the importance for the learners to take into account real life situations in the knowledge construction process. Teachers are in charge of creating those real life scenarios so the learners cope with those scenarios and put into practice their knowledge in English.
        
        Also, the action oriented approach or task-based approach places emphasis on what learners knwo and do to communicate succesfully.
        
        This is reflected in the definition provided by MEP’s syllabus (2016), ''An Action-Oriented Approach sees students as active agents responsible for their own progress in learning and sees communication as a social activity designed to accomplish specific tasks'' (p. 25)
        
        As mentioned before, the learners are social agents that are responsible for their own progress in the knowledge construction process and for this it is necessary to implement real life situation so they can improve their speaking skills.

- - - - Speaking skills is the second variable of this action research proposal. in order to highlight the importance of this variable in the knowledge construction process, it will be explained some points that are believed to be revelant when talking about the speaking skills. Nonetheless, first it is iimportant to understand the concept of speaking skills.
