- the main problem with modem cards was speed, which was limited to 56 Kbps
NETWORK
- to connect to other computers and peripherals via a network cable
- some network interface cards also allows wireless networking
WIRELESS NETWORK CARD
- enables wireless connectivity
- to connect to other computers/devices wirelessly
SOUND
- connects to speakers or a microphone
USB
- connects to high-speed USB ports
VIDEO
- provides enhanced graphics capabilities, such as accelerated processing or the ability to connect a second monitor
VIDEO CAPTURE
- connects to a digital video camera camera, television or DVD player and convert the analog signals into digital form and compress the data
M.2 SSD
- to supports PCIE M.2 SSD such as M.2 PCIE-based SSDs, M.2 SATA-based SSDs and mSATA SSD
- Today's computer support Plug and Play technology which means the computer automatically can recognize peripheral devices as user install them
- Plug and Play support means user can plug in a device and then immediately begin using it
