DEFINITION OF ADAPTER CARD

Peripheral is a device that connects to the system unit and is controlled by a processor in a computer.

A circuit board that enhances the functions of a component of a system unit and or provides connections to peripheral devices.

Adapter cards can be inserted into an expansion slot or adapter card slot on a motherboard.

Sound

Connects to speakers or a microphone.

USB

Connects to high sped USB ports.

Video

VIDEO CARD Provides enhanced graphic capabilities , such as accelerated processing or the ability to connect a second monitor.

VIDEO CAPTURE CARD Connects to a digital video camera , television or DVD and convert the analog signals into digital form and data compresses the data.
