c) After verbs of perception: see, hear, watch, feel, smell, … or ordinary verbs such as: imagine, appreciate, spend, waste, stop, catch, find, leave, …
Ex: I spend an hour playing chess.
b) As an adjective:
Ex: I played an interesting chess match.
a) To form the continuous tense:
Ex: I'm playing chess
d) Reducing relattive clause:
Ex: The boy who plays chess is my friend. =>The boy playing chess is my friend.
f) After the verb “go”
Ex: I usually go swimming with my friend.
e) to show that a person is doing two things at the same time.
Ex: I listen to music and play chess. =>Listening to music, I play chess. =>I listen to music, playing chess.

Ex: Doing my homework, I sing a song.
