Cancer
Design
Design looks at the set up of the lesson, the specific end goal, and the measurable factors.
The overall goal of the lesson will be to become familiar with cancer and factors related to the disease.
The best way for students to tell if they are succeeding is to look at rubrics and answer keys and compare their work to the teachers to gauge accuracy.
Students will be given different levels of content and need to compare and make sure they understand before moving to the next level with harder content.
Development
This is also where a time frame is established, in this case it would be by the end of the course presentation.
A plan, using power points, photos, lecture, and real life models would be the most effective learning strategie.
Development stage starts the production and testing of the methodology being used in the project. The information that was collected in the last two stages is used here to decide how info will be taught to the students.Development stage is all about putting it into action.
A packet full of info to follow along with and interact with would be provided so that interaction is happening. Such as filling in blanks from each posted slide to make sure they are paying attention.
Implementation
Check in with participants to make sure that content is being understood, and learned in a way that is effective to them
Progress with packets will be monitored, and question will be asked throughout the powerpoint to check for understanding of the content, as well as if there are any questions.
The implementation stage reflects the continuous modification of the program to make sure maximum efficiency and positive results are obtained.
Evaluation
Students will be tested on the material in stages, Once a test is passed with 80% or greater then they will be given the next test. Tests will be divided between content; such as different cells, stages of cancer, treatments, etc.
Once student is able to complete all tests with 80% accuracy then they will have successfully complete the course and be able to say they know a little big about cancer and the components that come with it.
This is the stage in which the project is being subjected to meticulous final testing regarding the what, how, why, when of the things that were accomplished (or not accomplished) of the entire project.
Analysis
Analysis can be considered as the "goal setting stage" focusing on target audience, focusing on what is already know and what should be known by completion of the course.
My target audience would be high school age kids who have an interest in going into oncology or have a possibly interest in research of cancer. Another possibility is families who have a family member recently diagnosed with cancer and want to become more familiar with the disease.
After completion stduents will be able to identify cancerous tissue, different types of cancer cells and stages of cancer.Treatments will be able to be matched with diagnoses. Possible causes and genetic relation to cancers.
