Australian gold rush 1851-1859
When the gold rush first started it wasn't very chaotic and there weren't that many people and a few months after the gold rush started the government invented a miners license that people had to have to mine.
The next year more and more people called prospectors started arriving and about 100,000 prospectors came.
Then a big event happened called the Eureka stockade and in the Eureka stockade were a bunch of miners and they were fighting for rights against the government and this caused democracy to happen in Australia.
The next year 1855 the government got rid of the license and added something called 'miners right' and you can have this and if you do you will have the right to vote.
After the lambing flat riots happened, the lambing flat riots are when the white people attacked the Chinese miners and one of the Australian gold rush's ended.
