A Teaching Contract is the legally binding obligation between the teacher and the school. This document defines the rights, benefits, and responsibilities of both parties to one another. The contract will also include the salary and standing within the institution.

This form tracks the attendance of the students in the course. This legal document, is used to report any student who is chronically truant.
In the syllabus there is an attendance policy to enforce student's participation and attendance throughout the course of the semester. The rhetorical activity being created through both the syllabus and the attendance policy is that students will likely come to class after seeing the evident consequences of their actions. Together, these two pieces are creating the conversation about when to come to school and when not to come to school.
Progress reports are pieces of communication that update the students on their performance in the course. This interaction is imperative to both the students and the professor because it allows them to adjust the way in which they are learning and teaching in the classroom.
Memorandums can be used to communicate information about the syllabus, the rubrics, and progress reports either to individuals or to the whole class.
To effectively communicate with the student, a professor must be clear and concise in the words and phrases that are used during this type of interaction.

An essay rubric's function is to create a conversation about a piece of writing completed by the student and to get the student thinking about the ways in which they write.

The university provides a number of health and safety procedures that must be followed by students and faculty/staff. A professor can enact health and safety protocols inside the classroom as long as they do not go against what the university has decided.
Lesson plans can be adjusted based on how the students are preforming with the current teaching methods.
These memos are used to relay announcements to the entire class such as a schedule change, a change in location for a meeting, a due date change.
Professors will often assign students writing pieces that will help them in the future to obtain jobs. Professors will plan assignments to meet the students needs. For example, an English professor may assign a publication piece or a research piece so that the student can add it to their portfolio.

Lesson plans must follow a standard curriculum that helps the instructor plan what the students need to know, how it will be taught, and keep track of all the information being relayed throughout the semester. This writing is used inside the classroom and is communicated to the students. This information is also relayed to higher ups who may be completing a performance evaluation on the instructor. This information is incredible important because it will effect what content is taught and how it is taught to the students.

The way in which writing in the classroom connects to the legalities of teaching is that when you become an instructor there is a certain curriculum that must be taught to students in order for them to meet the state standards of education. You have to agree to teach these set of curriculum as a duty and responsibility to the students.

Writing inside the classroom is going to support career preparation through the assignments and prompts that the instructor offers. The different styles of writing and variety of documents build a strong foundation for the students for when they enter the workforce. Apart from the actual assignments themselves, students can learn valuable time management skills through assignments that can follow them well into their careers and other aspects of their lives.

When the professor communicates with anyone outside the classroom in a way that shows their profession, then they are representing the school. According to a past professor whom teaches at the New Mexico State University, the instructors are obligated to represent the university without negative light. This means that as an employee, or when they are "on duty" they must speak well intentioned about the university. This line of communication can occur either via email, memorandum or any other assortment of communication styles.

The way in which writing outside the classroom and student career preparation interlock in a way that models for the students what professionalism is in the "real" world and how communication is exchanged. For example, when instructors write and email to their students as a way of communication, students are shown how to write and effective piece of communication.
