structure ?
lipids are essential components for the cell membrane. the structure is normally made of a a phosphate and glycerol head that is hydrophilic and two fatty acid tails that face inwards in the bilayer and the tails are hydrophobic meaning that they do not dissolve in water whereas the head does dissolve in water.
phospholipids
phospholipids are found in the bilayer within the membrane of a cell this consists of two layers of phospholipids that the phosphate and glycerol heads face on the outside of the membrane because they are hydrophilic which means that they dissolve in water, however the two fatty acid tails that face inwards because they are hydrophobic and do not dissolve in water.
