The author went on to study a lot about humor and went on to teach studies with philosophy and comedy/humor. He was invited by the society of engineers to speak at their annual conference. He says, “There I mocked the myth that play is the opposite of work and talked about the psychological and social benefits of humor in the workplace. 1. Laughter is physically and mentally healthy, especially in reducing stress and boosting the immune system. 2. humor makes us mentally flexible--able to cope with change, resilient in the face of failure, and creative in our problem-solving. 3. Humor serves as a social lubricant, creating rapport, reducing conflict, and fostering team spirit.”
This changed a lot of their minds and he was invited to do teachings and speeches at other places like the IRS, Kodak, Xerox, Time Warner, etc.
