Types to run a country
Democracy

The government is elected by the people. Everyone who is eligible to vote - which is a majority of the population - has a chance to have their say over who runs the country.

Monarchy
Constitutional
The figure head, can't make changes in the government.

When it has a king or queen, (who sometimes has absolute power). Power is passed along though the family.

Theocracy
Form of government where the rulers claim to be ruling on behalf of a set of religious ideas, or as direct agents of a deity.
Single-Party State
This is a political ideology stating power to the people and equality for all and the abolition of capitalism.

Anarchy
A situation in which there is no organization and control, especially in society, because there is no effective government.

Sides of compass
Left to right is the economic power of the government, for example, if the government has control then things like health care, parks, buildings are owned by the government. Some countries have a mixture of both like public healthcare owned by the government and private healthcare owned by business.

Up to down is the overall power the government has over the people, for example, the government can decide if you can have a different sexuality or if you can marry the same sex. This is one example of many.
Up
Up side of the compass is also known as the authoritarian. The government has strict rules in what's allowed and what's not.
Down
The down side of the compass is the libertarian. There are more freedom and rights in country, the rules are less strict.

Ideology is the overall stance on politics. Its your belief how the government should lead. The government use ideology to make rules for a policy.
