Treatment

Insidious.

No MOI however can follow post trauma.

Significant stiffness and painful shoulder, unilateral.

Loss of both AROM and PROM.

Minimal pain on resisted testing.

District loss of external rotation compared to other side. Also test abduction and flexion, would expect reduction also.

Inflammatory condition which results in the fibrosis of the GHJ. Characterised by stiffness, pain and reduced ROM.

Long recovery taking 1.5 to 3 years. Follows set pattern of recovery with complete or near full recovery.

Pain management and avoiding painful movements.

S1 = Passive mobilisation. Pendulum.

S2 = AAROM. Broom, towels.

Jain et al. 2014 - Systematic review - Therapeutic exercises and mobilization are strongly recommended for reducing pain, improving range of motion (ROM) and function in patients with stages 2 and 3.

OA.

RCRSP

Rotator cuff tear.

Insidious onset.

Significant loss PROM and AROM, particularly ext rotation.

Blocked end of ROM feeling.

Risk factors include, females, diabetes, 40-60 years of age.

End of ROM feeling blocked.

S3 = Strengthening and stretches. Sleeper stretches, resistance band ext.

Pain dominant phase (0-6 months).

Stiffness dominant phase (6-12 months) - pain may begin to subside.

Recovery stage (12-18 months).

Dull or achy pain.
