Definition: Type of assessment used to evaluate student mastery at the end of a learning unit. These typically have high stakes/grade value weight.

Definition: Type of assessment utilized to see where students are in their learning and make predictions on how well they will do in the future.

Definition: Type of assessment that requires students to perform a task/apply a concept rather than simply answering questions.**
Example: Demonstration exercise - Application in which students display a given skill or concept in practice
Example: Process-oriented assessments - Provide insight into student thinking, reasoning, and motivation.
Formative
Definition: Type of assessment purposed to obtain data for adjusting instruction. These types of assessments are generally low stakes/grade value weight.
