Formative Assesment
What is it?- this is a form of testing a students understanding that can be done in different forms. Students can be assessed through assessments that do not require rubrics. This is best for immediate feedback for the learner
Examples: having students answer a single questions on a sticky note at the end of class, having students tell you 2 things they learning during class on their way out or with their table group
Summarize Assessment
What is is?- this form of assessment is given after instruction content has been taught and practiced.
Examples: the Districk Assessments and CFA’s, having students take a multiple choice assessment at the end of the unit
Diagnostic
What is it?- This is a form of assessment where the teacher can test students abilities to see what their strengths and weaknesses are. This helps to find the best placement for students
Examples: testing the students comprehension by having them answer a few questions after guided reading, having students complete a math facts work sheet to see what the student knows and does nor know
Performance
What is it?- this is a form of assessment where the student is tested on their ability to complete a specific task
Examples: students creating their own poem, having students act out the fairytale story they read in readers theater
Interim/Benchmark
What is it?- this is a type of assessment given after a specific unit to make sure the student is on track with their learning
Examples: STAAR, MAP, AP Assessments in high school, state administered tests
