Can you categorize the things you would find in your kitchen based off if they are a mixture or a solution?

Formative
Definition: To collect students understand by using a
variety of methods to improve instruction while it is happening.
Discussion: The teacher is able to gather information on whether the student understands the concept by having them participate in a content related discussion
Observation: The teacher is able to tell if the student is understand by observing the students verbal and nonverbal ques. (eye contact, doodling in book, involved in discussion)
Interim/Benchmark
Definition: an assessment that determines a students learning progress, and determine whether is a student is on track to passing future assessments.

Benchmark: Assessment that is given half way through the school year to see if the students are on track to do well on the end of year summative test.
Summative
Definition: an assessment that determines a students knowledge at the end of a unit by comparing it to a baseline standard.
Standardized Test: Students must demonstrate and apply what they have learned throughout the course of the unit or year.

Performance
Definition: a type of testing that requires the students to preform a task, rather than answer questions.
Semester Projects: the students have to put together a project using the content that they have learned throughout the semester.
Research paper: the student has to construct a research paper over the topic that is assigned. The students have to do the research and apply what they have learned to the paper.
Diagnostic
Definition: Form of pre-assessment that teachers can give to determine a student's strengths, weaknesses, knowledge, and skills in a specific content area.
Sight words: Students must study and pass a sight word test to determine if a student is developing correctly for reading.
Phonological Awareness Survey: students are administered this assessment to determine if they are able to decode words necessary for their grade level.
