Intern/Benchmark
Definition: These are given periodically throughout the year. They are a formal way to get an idea on how well a student is understanding the content being taught.
iStation: Students are tested on the five foundational essentials for reading and writing. This assesses their knowledge in phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary.
MAP: Students take an online test that changes throughout as the students answer the questions. If the student answers correctly, the test questions move to a higher thinking level. If the students answers are incorrect the questions will move to a lower thinking level.
Performance
Definition: Performance assessments are different than any other assessment. To complete these, students must perform a task. These are open-ended that are evaluated using a rubric.
Presentations: Students will collaborate with a group by getting information gathered and organized to share with the rest of the class.
Essays: Students are given a prompt and a rubric with what all needs to be included as they write an essay to explain particular contents or ideas.
Formative
Definition: Formative assessments are administered while the learning is in action. Teachers give these to students to access what the students are learning and to provide immediate feedback. This allows for changes in plans to help with student achievement.
Pre-Assessments: Students will take a short assessment to determine what they know before teaching a lesson.

Diagnostic
Definition: Diagnostic assessments are given to students to evaluate what students' weaknesses and strengths in certain areas. This provides in-depth details about students' knowledge for the teachers.
Surveys: Students will answer questions based on their knowledge. They will determine how confident they are with a particular area.
Running Records: Students will read a short book, or section of a book aloud. The teacher will document how the student is reading by taking notes of errors to determine the reading level of the student.
Summative
Definition: Summative assessments are administered at the end after a large amount of information has been taught to students. This is to access what students have learned from a unit. A review can be included before this is given.
Final Exam: Students will take a lengthy test that contains cumulative information from the entire semester.
Unit Test: Students will take a test over an entire unit that has been taught to assess their knowledge.
