Following his jailbreak
He broke into the home of a 65-year-old school teacher named Alice Curtis. He bound and gagged her, and when she started to choke on her dentures due to the gag, he watched her die. It was his first murder.
Second victims (Aug 1, 1974): Elizabeth Addison left her two daughters at home, thinking her husband would be home soon. He was too busy at work to leave on time and when he got back, the girls were missing. Neighbors saw a yellow car on the road, which had been the car Knowles stole (though no one knew that yet.)
Knowles saw the girls on the road where he planned to dump the car he stole. He knew the girls because his mom and their mom were friends. Out of fear, he kidnapped and strangled them, then dumped them in a swamp.

Sharon Hicks was abducted, raped, strangled and dragged through barbed wire.

Karen Wine and her daughter were raped and strangled. He stole a stereo and tape recorder from them.

Koswell Kais was stripped and stabbed 27 times with scissors. His 15-year-old daughter was first strangled, then had a stocking jammed down her throat, and finally she was raped.

Not many things scared Knowles, but the electric chair did. Therefore, he went out like Bonnie & Clyde. He was gunned down.

In this podcast, as easy as it is to be biased against the killer, the narrator is not biased and simply states facts along with insight.
I was disappointed that even though Kovic (Knowles's ex fiance) knew about all the murders and mutilations he was responsible for, she said that she was still willing to date him if he escaped prison.
