Summative
Definition: A way of assessing students in order to receive feedback to modify instruction. Not a high stake assessments.

MAP Tests: Computerized tests taken to evaluate students' understanding and level within math, literacy and reading.
STAAR: A Texas standardized test used to assess students' knowledge based on grade level.
Final Project: Students complete cumulative work over an extended period of time based on what they have been learning.
Chapter Tests: After reading a chapter, or several chapters, students answer questions based on what they have read.

Surveys: Surveys can be completed with parents and their student in order to assess their reading capabilities.
KWL Chart: Students will first state what they know, then what they might want to know and then finally what they learn.
Performance
Definition: An assessment that requires students to perform a task rather than answering questions.
Sketchnotes : A type of note taking in which student draw shapes, images or unique handwriting to showcase what they've learned.
Experiments:A planned hands-on test in order to try a new topic, idea or activity.
