Indigenous perspective in the 1900s:
At the cost of our suffering, loud construction, displacing, and loss of tradition, the Canadian settlers have built a railway on our land, they have benefited greatly. Instead of increasing funding and compensation, it had actually decreased, especially for our schools and they expect us to sustain for ourselves. Our children have just recently been displaced to lands that our ancestors did not grow up in, and are expected to adapt to new traditions in such a short time with such minimal time, this isn’t a better future as promised, this is an up and coming nightmare.
