Interim/Benchmark
Definition: monitors where students are at in their learning and if they are on track to do well in future assignments

Diagnostic
Definition: pre-assessment used to observe student's strengths and weaknesses as well as common misconceptions. This helps teachers meet students various instructional needs.

KWL Charts: students can connect with the instruction before it is taught by saying what they know about the material, what they want to know, and afterwards what they learned.

Formative
Definition: an type of assessment for students that allows the teacher to get feedback and adjust instruction for students. They do not have significant grade value for students and are mainly used to monitor student progress on daily instruction.
DLIQ Avid Strategy: students can either get a printed copy or virtual copy to fill out, and provide what did they DO in class, what did they LEARN, what did they find INTERESTING, and one QUESTION they still have.

Kahoot/Quizlet Live: These provide fun ways that can be used for competition and review in the classroom that also can see students misconceptions over a certain topic.
Summative
Definition: evaluates student learning at the end of a unit, has a much higher grade value. Compare to formative assessment
