Digital media as largely beneficial in terms of assisting them in communicating with constituents. Email and websites, for example, are less valued tools for direct engagement with constituents. Blogs, on the other hand, are thought to be less likely to be used by MPs because they take too much time and are perceived to be problematic. Adoption of the internet is largely determined by personal attitudes toward technology, but it is also influenced by the certainty of incumbency. MPs with a significant majority, as well as those who have been MPs for a long time, are far less likely to use the internet.
