Formative
Formative assessment is an ongoing assessment used students and teachers during learning and teaching to provide evidence of student learning. Teachers use it to improve lessons and gage where students are with understanding a new topic.
In class discussion- Teacher will ask students questions that pertain to the topic Students will think and discuss with peers as well as the teacher. This will give the teacher time to correct misunderstandings and encourage good ideas.
Group work- Students will be partnered or in groups working in a low stakes worksheet or activity together where the teacher will be circulating the classroom to help students.

Benchmark
A benchmark assessment is given a few times throughout a school year to establish baseline data and measure progress towards academic standards and goals.
ISTATION- This is a monthly assessment given in RLA. Students take it online. Each time they take the test forms to the students progress. Students should show growth every time they take test.
STAAR- This is a standardized assessment taken in certain grades and subjects. Students are given a certain amount of time for each section. This test will show data from a majority of the information learned in a year.

Performance
A performance assessment is a specific type of assessment that is non-traditional. This type of assessment focuses on tasks rather than students just selecting answers.
Conducting a lab- Students can conduct a lab over a specific topic they have learned about and the teacher will be able to collect data on what they know how to do.
One Pager with bullets points and pictures- Students will be tasked with using one page of paper. They will need to make it colorful and have a few sections of information in bullet point form and pictures to go along with the topics.

Diagnostic
A diagnostic assessment is a tool teachers use to collect information about students' strengths and weaknesses in a specific skill area. This type of assessment can be formal or informal.
PAST test- This assessment can be given verbally to students and the teacher will record data on students strengths and weaknesses in RLA.
Stations sort- Students will sort objects based on the TEKS/ objective and the students will turn in the project and the teacher will see data based on students' understandings.
