Assessments :
Formative Assessment: A process of gathering student learning that is a continuous process. With this information, teachers can gather evidence of learning, provide feedback and adjust instruction to help students.

Homework: Students are given homework frequently and the students' work can help the teacher understand which students might be struggling with the concept.
Benchmark Assessments: Students take benchmark tests periodically throughout the school year.
Interim/Benchmark: Interim/benchmark tests measure student progress over time. They compare student understanding or performance against a set of uniform standards within the same school year.
Summative Assessment: Summative assessments are given at the end of a large chunk of learning and compare results to a standard or benchmark. Summative assessments are usually more high stakes.
Diagnostic: A pre-assessment which helps teachers understand their students' strengths and weaknesses before they instruct a lesson.
Performance: An assessment that challenges students to perform a task rather than just select an answer.
Final Project: Final projects are done at the very end of a long period of learning. They are used to analyze how much a student understands of a concept.
End of term exams: End-of-term exams given at the very end of a long learning process. These tests are used to measure what students learned in a specific course.
Project scored with a rubric: Projects scored by a rubric can be given to students throughout the year to compare student data at different points in the learning process.
Six week assessments: Six week assessments are used to measure student progress over time and can be used to show student progress and growth.
Running record: A running record could be a diagnostic test because it is a way for a teacher to see the level that their student is on before working with the student on specific reading instruction.
Student writing samples: Student writing samples can be used to help a teacher understand what level the student is at in regards to writing.
Teaching walkthrough (PA): Instead of taking a test we are graded on how we teach in a real classroom.
Open ended response: A student is expected to show their knowledge by writing multiple sentences about the topic assigned.
