Assessments
Performance
Definition: Performance assessments allow for students to perform a task rather than taking a quiz/test or answering questions.
Design/Conduct an experiment: Students design/conduct an experiment over gravity and how gravity works.
Speech: Students give a one-minute speech to the class about why the information in our lesson was important.
Formative
Definition: Formative Assessment is the
process of gathering evidence of student
learning in order to modify and adjust instruction.

3-2-1 Exit Slip: Students will list 3 things they learned, 2 things they found interesting, and one question they still have after the lesson.

Interim/Benchmark
Definition: Interim/Benchmark assessments are used to see where a student is at in their learning. This also helps determine if the student is on track with their learning in order to do well on future assessments.
IStation: Computerized test that shows a students achievements in Reading. (Taken once every month).
STAAR: A Texas standardized test to assess what students have learned and their achievements in that grade level.
Diagnostic
Definition: Diagnostic assessments are used as pre-assessments. They show a students strengths and weakness regarding a certain topic that the teacher is about to start teaching. Allows for the teacher to see what she really needs to focus on throughout the lesson.
Running Records: Show what level a student is reading on. Also allows the teacher to see what students struggle with when it comes to reading.
Journal Entry: Teachers are able to walk around as students are answering a journal entry regarding how they are feeling about a certain topic.
