Jared Diamonds Societal Collapse Theory
Global issues
Global issues for a society could be war, or threat of an oncoming war.
Another global issue could be climate change, which if it affects heavily the society, it can cause its collapse
Why are societies taking so long to act on problems?
Failure to solve a problem
Some problems can just not be solved, for example if the soil is starting to become less fertile due to environmental changes, some societies can not combat that
Other problems that can not be solved could be poverty, and hunger
Why don't societies take countermeasures before the problems start to make sure they are better prepared?
Failure to act after perceiving a problem
For example, Climate change can be an example, as we know it exists and countries are not doing anything to stop it
.
Why arent countries employing methods to make countermeasures for problems to act accordingly.
Problems can divide a country, further increasing tension and making the original problem worse.
Failure to Perceive a Problem
Some problems can not be seen, such as the soil not being fertile is not seen by the human eye easily
The use of chemicals and pesticides have an effect on the earth, that we can not see yet due to it being way too early to make a judgement on the affect it has.
Why do societies not test certain aspects of their life to see if there is a problem arising and if so to stop it.
Political issues
Political issues could be government corruption, with politicians being brought by corporations
Another political issue could be government tyranny, with the government not caring for its people
Why are politicians brought out by corporations, if it can lead to the societies collapse
