Formative
Definition: Gathering information from students and adjusting instruction based off of it. Teachers are giving feedback to students when they complete a formative assessment,
Exit ticket is used at the end of the lesson to assess what the students understood from the lesson taught. Then the teacher will look at the results to see if they need to reteach certain concepts or move on.
Quizzes are a good way to assess the students throughout the week to make sure they are understanding the information.
Interim/ Benchmark
Periodic testing throughout the year. It is usually done every 6 weeks or a chapter test. It is used to make sure students are on track.
The STAAR test is a big state test that accesses what students have learned throughout the year. It also allows students to pass a certain class based off the score or if they need to retake it.
A project with a scored rubric can allow students to showcase what they have learned in a creative and hands on way,
Performance- form of testing that requires students to perform a task rather than select an answer from a ready-made list.

Form of pre-assessment where teachers can evaluate students' strengths, weaknesses, knowledge and skills before their instruction

Surveys asking what students know or do not know. Add a couple of questions for the students to pick and see what they know.
summative
Summative assessments are test to access what students have learned throughout the year or the semester. The purpose is to see what students have retained and as a teacher to use the data to adjust there lesson for next year. They are usually high stakes test.
MId term test can be used to see what students have retain halfway through the school year. This will help to see what the teacher can review later on.
The ACT is a college test that students take to get into college. It has questions from certain subjects that students have learned throughout high school
