The theory
Example
In the case of a giraffe, Lamarck believed that giraffes once had short necks that got progressively longer as members of each subsequent generation stretched their necks as long as they could. In doing so, Lamarck believed that each generation would grow slightly longer necks and pass that trait onto their offspring.

Explanation
Spontaneous generation is mechanism to create the simplest ways of life, which evolve to more complex organisms.
Organisms have an internal trend of improvement and complexity. This trend is due to changes in the environment, so that as organisms use more or less organs, the organisms develop or atrophy. Hence, the function creates the organ.
The constitutive characters of use or not use pass to the next generation, are acquired by descendants

Why is it not accepted?
The changes that human species have had during their lives, are not in their genes. That's why, it's impossible to inherit those characteristics to the following generations.
There is not evidence of this theory, because nowadays we know this theory is false
