SWOT analysis
SWOT analysis is a strategic planning technique used to help a person or organisation identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats related to business competition or project planning.

Mind Map
A document used during the initial phase of planning. These can be used by individuals or as part of a team. Thoughts and ideas can be linked together from a central idea using branches, nodes and sub-nodes (organised)
Strengths
Can allow for ideas to be generated for implicit and open requirements - Identify and record project and requirements when interpreting the brief - break the project down into tasks ans sub-tasks using nodes ans sub nodes.

Moodboards
A collection of images, materials, words, fonts and objects that used to create a feel for the project and/or product. Useful for when generating ideas about content and house style
Strengths
Allows you to involve the client early on as they can see your ideas, show agreed decisions on style, they clarify the vision as the production team can use it when creating the product and allows for collaboration as everyone can use the same moodboard so everyone is on the 'same page'.
weaknesses
don't show the detailed timeline of an end product, the original idea of the moodboard may be lost as it may become too overcrowded with different aspect such as images or fonts.
Blue sky thinking
a group of individuals get together with an empty piece of paper or whiteboard. Having read the brief any thoughts, words and colours are written down. No idea is discounted or criticised at this stage
strengths
allows for creativity , creative ideas are generated regardless of practical constraints , collaboration -- lots of people are involved so different ideas are recorded.
