Formative
Definition: methods of assessment that teachers use to measure student comprehension, learning needs, and academic progress during a lesson. The main goal of formative assessments is to collect detailed information that can be used to improve instruction and student learning while it’s happening.
Exit Ticket: Quick and easy prompt or question given at the end of class to help teachers understand what students learned and if they are having trouble. Teachers can then adjust instruction to better meet the students' needs.
Think-Pair-Share: students are asked to think about a specific topic. Next, pair students together to discuss their answers. Lastly, each pair should share their thoughts with the class. This last stage is where teachers can assess student understanding.
