Formative
Definition: this type of assessment is used to inform the teacher of the student's current progress within the class. The teachers use the data from the tests to give the students feedback to help monitor their progress.
Concept Map: the students can draw a concept map based on the topic that they are working on in order to show their understanding of the concepts.

Exit Ticket: The students fill out an exit ticket answering clarifying questions about the topics that were discussed during class that day.
Interim/Benchmark
Definition: these are given throughout the years periodically. These tests are used to give baseline data in order to see if the students are meeting their goals towards a standard.
District Assessments: Students take an assessment at the end of every 9 weeks in order to measure their growth throughout the year.
Previous Year STARR Test: Teachers will give the previous years STARR test as a warm up to prepare the students to take that years STARR Test.
Summative Assessment
Definition: the students will be given a summative assessment at the end of the unit of at the end of a semester. This tests is used to see how the students have retained the knowledge of the unit of the semester as a whole. These tests are generally more formal than a formative assessment.
End of Unit Test: this tests can be given at the end of a unit in order to see what the students have retained. This can be done my simply giving a graded quiz over what content was covered within the duration of the unit.
End of the 9/6 Weeks Assessment: This assessment is given throughout the district on specific days. This assessment generally covers what the students have leaned within the first 9/6 weeks. This is a formally monitored assessment and is modeled like a STARR test.
Diagnostic Assessment
Definition: an assessment in which the teacher gives in order to diagnose where a students is excelling or struggling within different content areas.
Running Record: this assessment is used to find the independent reading level of the student. It is also used to analyze which specific area the students may be struggling with, their reading rate, and automaticity of word recognition.

Where To Start Word Test: this assessment is basically a spelling test, however, it is used to identify the particular parts of spelling that the students struggle with. It places them at different stages of spelling and identifies the specific skills in which the students lack within their spelling.
Performance
Definition: this assessment is a measure of the student's ability to perform a skill rather than have them answer questions on a quiz.
Finding a River on a Map: this would a be a skill that the students would have to perform. They could be given a map and would be given some hints such as the Mississippi River is west of the Appalachian Mountains and they would have to analyse the map and preform the skill of using a compas rose.

Describe How to Solve a Problem: this focuses on the students the knowledge of the content. They are preforming how they can solve problems using the standard algorithms. They would be demonstrating their understand and showing others how it can be solved.
