THE UNIVERSE
MILKY WAY GALAXY
THE SOLAR SYSTEM
9 PLANETS
TERRESTRIAL PLANETS - have few moons, made of rocky materials, with solid surfaces, small in size and no rings
EARTH - also called the water planet, is the only known planet that sustains life
VENUS - the hottest planet, due to its athmosphere made out of carbon dioxide and lava flows
MARS (the Red Planet) - is the fourth planet to the Sun and it is said that it might have also sustained life 3.7 billion years ago, when its surface was watery
MERCURY - the closest planet to the Sun, its orbit is the shortest, ecquivalent to 3 Earth months
JOVIAN PLANETS - have multiple moons, have no solid surface and are immense
ICE GIANTS - contain rock, ice and a mixture of mater, methane and ammonia

THE KUIPER BELT - made out of asteroids (and home to Pluto), it is located further out, after the Jovian Planets and it is the birtplace of many commets
OORT CLOUD - it is made out of icy debris and is the edge of our Solar System (since that's where the Sun's physical influences end)
THE SUN - the center of the Solar System which makes life possible by providing light and warmth; it is among the 15% of the stars that has planets
A cloud of interstellar gas and dust collapsed (also known as the Big Bang) and formed the materials of which it is made out of
