        Another thing that led to the start of the renaissance is the end of a war.
        
        This war was the hundred year war and it led to the renaissance because it helped populate cities and bring peace to people so they weren't so worried about survival and could focus on progressing.

        The Northern renaissance emphasized the role of an individual while combining it with religion. This was not seen in the Italian renaissance.
      - Culture
        
        The overall culture of the North and Italy had changed because before everyone was focused on survival but now they could think about advancing and innovation.
- - - - Flemish Painters
        
        Flanders at the time was the artistic center of Northern Europe due to the support artists received from wealthy merchant families.
        
        One of these painters and the most famous Flemish painter ever Jan van Eyck. Jan created paintings out of recently developed Oil paints. He used techniques still applied today, and was responsible for the popularity of it in Italy.
        
        Van Eyck's paintings were very realistic and good at representing the persons emotions which helped inspire many other Flemish painters.
        
        Concept: Continuity
        
        I believe that continuity is an important concept in this section due to the fact that many of these skills we have discussed Van Eyck developed are still in use today. A good example of this is the technique shading over colors with other colors to blend them in together. As we know this is still used today which shows us the power on this Era.
        
        Another well known Flemish artist of this time period is Pieter Bruegel. Some of his strengths were creating realistic paintings that posses high detail in areas like the people.
        
        He was also very skilled at painting landscape style pictures with many people inside of them. He did this by using rich color and giving balanced spacing to give these pictures a real life feel.

      - German Painters
        
        One of the most famous Germans to ever go to Italy then come back was Albrecht Dürer. Dürer traveled to Italy in 1494 then apon the wars moved back to Germany.
        
        Upon his return he did many woodcuts and engravings of religious figures and complex realistic landscapes in nature.
        
        Dürer's emphasis on realism helped to influence another important German artist-- Hans Holbein - The Younger
        
        What factors may have influenced the trend towards a more realistic style of art?
        
        A: Some factors that may have contributed to a more realistic style of art would first be the advancing technology in art like oil paints along with more complex forms of sizing objects within the image. Another factor is that people were now beginning to appreciate the things around them like nature due to their living standards raising.
        
        Hans specialty was painting nearly photographic portraits in detail.
        
        He eventually immigrated to England where he would go on to do portraits of King Henry VIII, and other members of the royal family.

        Concept-- Change
        
        Change is an important concept here because we see how the migration of these artists helped to keep expanding the styles and ideas of the Renaissance Era. This is a great example because Dürer influenced. Holbein to create these realistic portraits
