EXAMPLE
Talking to parents VS Doing oral test
Parents - comfortable way, have grammatical error
Oral test - fluent, correct grammar (tenses & phrases)
Creative & Innovative
Meaning and expression depends on the people
How we imagine we talk is not how other people perceive our language
Infinite number of correct sentence (language is not static)
Developing over time (borrowed/create)
EXAMPLE
STAN: an overzealous or obsessive fan of a particular celebrity - Eminem 2000 song called 'stan'
Intended
The purpose in our language is expressed by our feelings (body language)
Intended - certain @ specific gestures - to convey our thoughts & feelings
Unintended - spontaneous gestures (still give impact)
EXAMPLE
In interview - gestures to show our confidence in our information & understanding on it
Yawning - show that we are sleepy/tired (not a language but still give impact)
