Summative
Final Project: multifaceted assignment that serves as a culminating academic experience for students.

Diagnostic
Running Record: a measurement of how well students are reading and/or areas where they need improvement.
Definition: pre-assessments used to determine students strengths, weaknesses and misconceptions. Can be used to help teachers modify instruction to better students needs.
KWL Chart: are graphic organizers that help students organize information before, during, and after a unit or a lesson
Performance
Individual/Group Projects: Students show their learning or understanding on a topic by creating a presentation to show/teach the class their learning/findings.
Portfolios: may be a folder containing a student's best pieces and the student's evaluation of the strengths and weaknesses of the pieces.

Interim/Benchmark
Definition: Used to determine where students are in their learning as well is if they are on track for future learning,

ISEP: Istation testing done on the computer that monitors students reading levels and is taken at the beginning of each month.
Formative
Definition: A way of assessing students informally as a way to monitor students understanding and adjust or modify instruction going forward.
Observations: Teachers are able to assess students learning by observing conversations and student work during activities.
Exit Tickets: Students can write a summary or answer 3-4 questions about learning from a lesson or daily activities on their way out.
