Assessments
Summative: Purpose is to evaluate student learning over an extended period of time.
Performance: Students perform a task to demonstrate what they know.
Diagnostic: Used a pre-assessment to evaluate what students know before a unit starts. This will help the teacher guide instruction so that they don't waste time covering topics that students already know.
Formative Assessment: purpose is to check for student understanding of a concept and to provide feedback. Formative assessments help students learn the content.
Interm/ Benchmark: Track students learning over a longer period of time. These determine if a student has mastered the material or not. Usually a high stakes test
Kahoot: Kahoot is an online program that makes quiz questions in to a game situation. This way, teachers can easily identify any common misconceptions from students.
Quick Writes: Students will write for 1-3 minutes about everything they know about a certain topic.
STAAR: The STAAR is the states test to identify if a student has passed a certain course.
District Assessments: Show students who are meeting grade and district level expectations throughout the year. Can be used to check progress for the STAAR
Unit Test: At the end of a unit, the teacher can administer a test to evaluate student learning over the unit.
Project: At the end of the unit, the teacher could assign a project where the students have to use the material from the unit to complete a task.
Pre-Test: A pre-test can be given before a lesson or a unit. This helps guide instruction. We do this before our PA's
KWL Chart: Students will write all they know about a topic, all that they want to know about a topic, and then at the end they will write what they learned.
Mindmap: Students could make one of these mindmaps to show what they know for certain topic.
Timeline: For a class like history, students could create a timeline to show events for a certain unit
