Accommodations
Inclusion and integration with non-disabled peers is fundamental to the development of students with multiple disabilities. Placements outside the general education classroom should only be considered when supplemental aids and related services do not provide an appropriate education in a general education classroom.
Inclusion of this students have not only improved academically, but have also benefited from social acceptance, increased self- esteem, and improved social skills based on results found on a two year study done by Fisher and Meyer and supported by others. (Rogers)

Use of Universal Design for learning (UDL) in the classroom setting and core curricula. UDL is founded on the premise that effective instructional practices are built-in and proactive to accommodate the widest range of all learners., including students with severe/ multiple disabilities.

Multiple disabilities are defined as "concomitant impairments (such as mental retardation-blindness, mental retardation-orthopedic impairment, etc.), the combination of which causes such severe educational problems that they cannot be accommodated in special education programs solely for one of the impairments."
Students with the most severe physical, cognitive, and communicative impairments. Students can also have average-above-average intelligence. (Project IDEAL)
