Smart cities
Singapore
to launch a programme and install cameras so the government can efffectively monitor
- crowd density
- cleanliness of public spaces
- the exact movement of every local and regstered vehicle
Much of the data it's collecting will be fed into an online platform called "Virtual Singapore" that gives the government access to how the city is functioning in real time. It could help the government predict:
- how crowds might react to an wxplosion in a shopping mall
- how infectious disease might spread
to deploy systems that can tell
- when people are smoking in prohibited zones
- are littering from high-rise housing
Dubai
50 smart services from 22 government entities have been rolled out as a part of the government's Smart Dubai Initiative
Using the government provided app 'Dubai now' you may
- pay a speeding ticket which likely capture you on a public camera and then emailed you the ticket directly
- call a taxi
- pay bills
- track a package you sent your friend
- find the nearest ATM
- renew your vehicle registration
- track a visa status of a relative
- report a violation to the Dubai police
Barcelona
-
- street lamps - public lightning that adapts and dims when there is no activity but brightens up when sensors detect motion
- parking sensors - get real time information on an app which locate free parking spots. Sensors on the street curb use lighting and metal detectors to know if a parking spot or loading area is occupied
- garbage sensors - compact drop-off containers which have a vacuum network through pipes which sucks up trash below ground. The automated waste collection not only lowers noise pollution from garbage tracks but also lowers costs and keeps bad odor away
Palo Alto
- put a sensor into a parking space so it could collect data whether a parking space is occulied or not, send it to the cloud and haму any number of applications consume that data
- a combination of sensor arrays feeding back to a central point where we can agrigate the data and do things with it
Transportation St - count traffic in real time 24/7 and based on that data design intersections better
- install low-cost air quality sensors in commercial districts and analyse the particulates in the air, then heтв that data off to academics who can analyse it and comme back with recommendations
Sango
Sensors monitor
- the city's energy use
- traffic flow
- waste managemment system that sends trash in recycling throw underground tunnels to waste processing centres
