Solomon Northup is a free African-American man in 1841, working as a violinist and living with his wife and his two children in Saratoga Springs
He met Brown and Hamilton. They offered him short-term employment as musician. They drugged and kidnapped him and gave him the identity of Platt
Northup is shipped in New Orleans like a slave. He was sold to a plantation owner: William Ford. And because of a growing tension with John Tibeats, Ford sold Northup to another slave owner, Edwin Epps
Northup met Patsey, a favourite slave of Epps. Then Epps raped Patsey while Mrs Epps abused and humiliated her out of jealousy
Northup will be Epps's slave for ten years. One day he began working with a Canadian, Samuel Bass; Northup decided to reveal his story to Bass, he asked him for help in getting a letter to Saratoga Springs
Suddendly local sheriff arrived in a carriage with two men, Northup recognized Mr Parker
