Ways of transmission
Airborne disease
Dust transmission: Bacteria in the spit (saliva) of an infected person dry up and form spores which can spread together with the dust in the air. Example of disease: Covid-19
Droplet transmission: Pathogen containing droplet sprays from the mouth and nose of an infected person through sneezing, coughing, talking or breathing. Example of disease: Tuberculosis
Waterborne disease
Infection through water usually happens in area with inadequate water supply and poor sanitation. A person can be infected by pathogen when he drinks the contaminated water. Example of disease: Leptospirosis, Cholera, Typhoid
Disease through contact
Touching the infected skin or wearing the clothes of an infected person will cause infections to occur. It is caused by fungi. Example of disease: ringworm and tinea.
Disease through vectors
Some pathogens are transmitted from one host to another new host through animals. Animals that transmit these pathogens are called vectors. Example of disease: Malaria fever and Zika fever.
