Brainstorm in groups the elements and requirements of existing packaging. Include photos of existing packaging and elements that stand out on them
Participate in the “Packaging Making” class workshop
In a group and using the provided printed net templates, identify the cut lines, fold lines and which direction the text will go.
Scan templates and place in EVD and select the template you will use for your packaging
Identify how packaging will meet the 3Ps and 1T and what elements you will include on your packaging, use “Fish Bone” graphic organiser
Using the provided printed net templates, cut out, fold and apply your initial ideas for the design, looking at placement of:
Product name
Brand name
Graphic & text elements

PART 2
Using the hand-drawn design plus the improvements as a template, generate 2 more digital variations of your packaging in Illustrator

PART 3
Save the final packaging colour versions as separate PDF files.
Print and construct the packaging safely and accurately, documenting your participation in the process
Summarise the process and WHS for each stage; include Score, Cut, Fold, Construction and Work Area
Place the matching product into your box and photograph the front/side, back/side and the slightly unfolded box to show the inside of the final packaging
Screenshot file structure. Write a rationale explaining:
- process you took to achieve the final packaging design
- materials, tools and equipment you used to design and construct your packaging
- How you think the final packaging turned out and
how the elements and principles of design are applied to your design.
- Challenges and issues that you experienced when designing and constructing your packaging
- What would you do differently to improve it and how you think it all turned out.
