✅ Oxygen Therapy 🚫
Consideration of the oxygen therapy
In life-threatening situations, high-flow oxygen via a reservoir (non-rebreathe) bag should be given immediately, without a prescription, but subsequent documentation should take place.
Insufficient oxygen therapy can lead to cardiac arrhythmias, tissue injury, damage to the vital organs and ultimately death.
Oxygen is a treatment for hypoxaemia and is an essential part of resuscitation and patient stabilisation in critical illness
Asthma
The Importance of the Oxygen Therapy
The oxygen therapy It's essential to ensure adequate oxygenation to the tissues and vital organs during an acute illness.
Questions:¿When was your last Asthma Attack? ¿Have you ever gone to the ICU or been intubated before when you ve actually had Asthma?
Signs of the hypoxemic patient
some hypoxemic patients present signs such as altered mental status, dyspnea, cyanosis, tachypnea, cardiac arrhythmias and even present a coma.

¿When to Apply Oxygen?
Normal Saturation:
94% - 99%
Types of Calls by: Asthma, Anaphylaxis, Copd
Nasal Canula: It is used for patients who have low saturation but conscious with mild symptoms.
Non Breather Mask:The patient is able to keep the airway open but his saturation is low.
Bag Valve Mask:Oxygen supply and Ventilation.
Inhaler: We can find it in a bag, house, car, and it is used for patients with asthma and copd.
CPAP:Used for patients with asthma and copd
Oxigen Delivery Devices: Nasal Canula, Non Breather Mask, Bag Valve Mask, CPAP, Neubulizer, Inhaler
¿When to give Oxygen?
Low 02 Saturation (Under 94 %), Cardiac/Respiratory Emergencies, Shock Patients
Medications: Albuterol, Solu Medrol, Magnesium, Epinephrine
Albuterol:Is a Beta 2 agonist, open the bronchioles.
Epinephrine:Is an Alpha 1, Beta 1, But also acts on the Beta 2 with great force it is given way IM.
Solu Medrol:Is a corticosteroid, is a steroids medications, helps inflammation that occurs from bronchoconstriction.
Magnesium:Is a relaxes smooth muscle that is used in emergency cardiac, obgyn emergencys.
When we stop the oxygen therapy
Oxygen therapy should be titrated downwards and stopped when the patient is clinically stable and arterial oxygenation is adequate with the patient breathing room air
The Oxygen Therapy in Emergency
Patients requiring emergency oxygen therapy are seriously ill, and many are in a life-threatening situation. Patients are often scared, anxious, and distressed, Effective interpersonal and communication skills are an important component in patient compliance with oxygen therapy.
