Europeans had competition when trading as well. Especially when creating the enchanted companies. When one country moved to another territory to conquers it with their company, another nation would do the same thing creating charted companies. This helps them rule territories and gain power over it.

Some of the excuses european provided was that they wanted to civilize africans also missionary came to christianize the people. Lastly there were trades between Africans and europeans and this gave an advantage to the europeans because they learned more about africans.

Powerful & rich Egyptians thought of the British taking over as a good thing, the poor Egyptians thought otherwise.
The british mainly wanted Egypt to have control over the trade route going through Egypt to the Red Sea, then to India.
South Africa
At the beginning, the Boers claimed South Africa and announced it in the Berlin Conference.
Later, gold and diamonds were found in South Africa by a slave.
The british then came back. Not to fight for South Africa but to “fight another european country”.
In the end the british won and took over South Africa.
