Summative
Definition:these are used at the end of a unit, term and or lesson topic, typically compared to those of an Interim/Benchmark.
Exit Ticket: a quick assignment given to the students to ensure that they understand what was covered for the lesson that day.

Diagnostic
Definition:these are focused on what students know BEFORE the lesson and or the unit begins. Focusing on information that they already know along with connections that they make.
Pre Quiz: Simply just a quiz on the given lesson, which will help the teacher see what it is that the students know before the lesson begins.
Checklist: An assignment that has questions and or statements that the student checks true or false on what they think it is. Typically this assignment comes back at the end of the lesson as well.
Interim/Benchmark
Definition: these are used to track students learning whether they're on track, ahead or need more assistance.

Quiz: a way in which to test students knowledge and understanding of the given topic or area of study.
Performance
Definition:these require students to perform, demonstrate and or show the assignment rather than answering questions and or writing down answers.
