        inferior because of their culture, there
        was a loss of identity in the colonies.
        
        There were wars of resistance, such as
        the Boxer Rebellion in China and the Zulu war.
- - - - The United States became more pronounced in the 19th century. In 1898 it won a war against Spain and seized Cuba, Puerto Rico and the Philippines. The U.S. would become the dominant power in the Americas.
