Opening

Performance
Definition: A way for students to show their knowledge rather being tested in the normal format of paper and answers.
Experiment: Creating their own experiment with what they have learned in class. Using that knowledge to create something new.
Portfolio: A folder filled with all of the completed work showing all the knowledge of a certain topic.

Formative
Definition: The evaluation of students learning as they are learning about a certain topic. This helps the teacher to modify their instruction to better fit the learning of their students.
Exit Ticket: Asking the students to write on a post it note one thing they learned in class and one question they might have
Thumbs up Thumbs down: The teacher would ask specific questions to check the students understanding. The students would respond with either a thumbs up or down.
Summative
Definition: These assessments are used to summarize the students learning at the very end of the unit.
Unit Test: Test taken at the end of a learning unit used to test the knowledge of students learning over that topic.
Projects: Tests and allows the student to be creative with learning. This can show what they know and allow the student to show their knowledge in a new way.
Interim/Benchmark
Definition: Assessments that are given periodically throughout the year to check the students learning on a bunch of different topics.
