Performance
Example 2: Mind maps or Spiderwebs. They help teachers see what individual students understand about a subject.
Example 1: Student Presentations. These assessments can take the form of group projects or video reports. They show mastery of a subject or concept taught in class.
Definition: Performance assessments, also known as authentic or alternative assessments. It is a task-based testing method rather than answer-based student testing.
Diagnostic
Example 2: Bell Ringer/ KWL. This is a questioning tool used to assess student understanding. I use this as a bell ringer to introduce a subject or section in class.
Example 1: Talk about it/ Topic Points. A system is used to assess students' prior knowledge by using peer collaboration and bullet points to start a conversation. Much like KWLS, it uses questioning to gain intel on student comprehension of a topic.
Definition: Pre-assessments are used to gauge prior knowledge and student skill before instruction. Teachers use this to assess where scaffolding is needed.
Summative
Definition: an assessment method that measures student comprehension after a unit is complete. Teachers often use this method as a review for their students.
Example 1: Gimkit Lesson Review. Students will play a Gimkit game as a review on a content section. These are supper fun and effective summative assessment tools
Example 2: Section Quiz. a quiz given to check for student comprehension after a lesson or series of lessons. A great way to review for benchmarks
Formative
Definition: A assessment method used to monitor student learning trough self assessment an evaluating points of improvement.
Example1: Main Point. a method of sensitizing the main point of a topic by identifying the main point in 3 sentences.
Example 2: Research Proposal. Students will propose what they want to do for a class project. They will be given choses regarding a section topic. This helps teachers understand student understanding, and assess if scaffolding is needed.
