Parts of a castle/Castle life:
1) There were no running water and actually no way to flush a toilet.
2)No running water it means no baths, unless you were super rich. So if you were rich all the servants were around you smelling as ripe.
3) The servants couldn’t afford medicine like lords or lady’s.
5) Castles toilets were just benches with holes in them. ✨Privacy wasn’t really a thing in castles, unless you owned the place.
6) The average castle housed was over 100 people. ✨ The castles requiered dozens of servants. ✨ In the castle lived the several generation of the lord and lady’s family.
7) Castles had dungeons wer the lord and lady could throw criminals, political opponents, etc.
8) They shared their place with rats. ✨They used them to tortur the criminals/prisoners.
4) They were constantly sick, so they tried to get better by doing home remedies or praying to god.
9) Everyone was drunk all the day.
10) The servants work began at sunrise. ✨As people in the castle were always drunk (unless the servants) they assumed the wouldn’t drag themselves out of the bed until, at least noon.
11) The tub was a cartoonishly giant wooden bucket were people got a bath.
12) They didn’t approach the definition of privacy and hygiene.
13) Castle’s were very dark and extremely cold.
14) There was always a feast or a festival.
15) If you were one of the cooks you had to spend the hole day preparing the feast.
16) They were seated and fed according to their status.
17) The lord and lady didn’t do real work.
18) The servants made actually all the work.
19) The floors were covered in rushes (to cover up with animal poop).
20) When you went to a castle you were walking on a layer of filth.
21) The kitchen was constantly on fire.
22) Some kitchens were made up of wood, so as they had to do all with fire they were on fire all the time.
23) They attended an in- house church.
24) The chuck just had an important role at that time.
