Definition: Assessing students understanding in order to get feedback on any modification that need to be made, very low grading stakes.

Sticky Note: Before students walk out the door, they will be required to write one example of a physical change and one example of a chemical change. They will then need to put the sticky note on the wall as they leave class.

3-2-1 Exit Ticket- Students will write 3 things they learned, two things they thought were interesting about the lesson, and one question they have.

Diagnostic

Definition: This is assessing students learning and see if they are on track to continue the year and learning new content.

MAP Testing- Computerized test to gauge where students are at the beginning, middle, and end of the year.

Teacher made benchmark- This is given to students to assess their learning and what they still need to work on.

Definition: Summative assessments are used to evaluate how much or how well a student understood the content, usually very high grading stakes.

Unit Tests: Students take a test at the end of each unit that shows how well they comprehended it.

Short answer questions- There are short answer questions given to students in order to gain a better understanding of how much they know.

Definition: This is when students are required to perform a task individually or with a small group in order to show what they know in a way other than regular questions.

Science Fair- Students come up with a project they can complete and present at a science fair. This shows a student completing a science project from start to finish individually.

Stations: There are anywhere from 4-6 stations set up and students are required to complete each station and also gather their evidence on their station sheet.

Definition: The purpose of Diagnostic Assessment is to see where the students understanding of the content is before beginning the lesson.

KWL Chart: Students complete a KWL Chart by listing what they already know, then what they want to know, and then finish up with what they did learn. This helps the teacher gauge where the students started and where they ended.

Pre assessment- students complete a short 5 question assessment that shows how much the students know before beginning the lesson.
