Color Indigo sacred in Indian mythology - indigo the color of the sky that was reflected in the water. In a Liberian legend, Asi saw the reflection of the sky in the water and wondered if eating a piece of the sky would turn her hair blue. This selfish thought resulted in the water spirits basically just killing her child after she ate a piece. However, the mix of her salty tears, ash, and the blue of the sky created indigo dye.
